A Personal Note From Me

Assalamu Alaikum,

Respected industry leaders, honorable colleagues, and valued members of the Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA),

It is both an honor and a responsibility to stand before you today as a candidate for the BGMEA leadership. With decades of hands-on experience in the RMG sector, I have witnessed our industry’s resilience—from overcoming the Rana Plaza tragedy to becoming the world’s second-largest apparel exporter. Yet, challenges like rising production costs, global competition, and shifting trade policies demand strong, visionary leadership.

If elected, my mission will be to:

  • Strengthen Bangladesh’s RMG branding globally.
  • Quality, sustainability, and innovation.
  • Advocate for policy reforms to secure better trade deals and financial support for factories.
  • Drive digital transformation to boost efficiency and competitiveness.

Together, we can navigate these challenges and unlock new opportunities. I humbly ask for your trust and support to serve this industry that fuels our nation’s economy.

Let’s build a stronger, smarter, and more sustainable future for Bangladesh RMG.

Thank you.

Quamar Alam's Promise

Financial Innovation for RMG Sector

I will establish dedicated channels with financial institutions to create specialized funding mechanisms for the RMG sector. This will include working capital solutions, export financing, and sustainable investment options tailored to the needs of garment manufacturers.

Through strategic partnerships with banks and financial bodies, we'll address the unique challenges faced by our industry and ensure businesses have access to the capital needed for growth and innovation.

International Trade Advocacy

As your representative, I will advocate tirelessly for establishing Free Trade Agreements (FTAs) and Preferential Trade Agreements (PTAs) with economically significant countries to boost Bangladesh's competitive edge in global markets.

This initiative will focus on reducing tariff barriers, simplifying compliance requirements, and creating new market opportunities for Bangladeshi RMG products, ensuring sustainable growth for our industry in the post-LDC era.
